MUGSHOTS.COM, FLORIDA.ARRESTS.ORG, BUSTEDMUGSHOTS.COM, ETC.

If you are thinking of paying to have something removed from mugshot websites such as florida.arrests.org, bustedmugshots, mugshots..
STOP AND READ ALL THE INFORMATION PROVIDED.
PAYING TO HAVE IT REMOVED FROM ONE SITE WILL NOT
STOP IT FROM HAPPENING TO YOU AGAIN!

If you are here, you discovered your information and mugshot online and are looking for help.
Research is your friend:

THEN:
Get in contact with the ACLU, and read:

"..the Freedom of Information Act does not apply to booking photos of suspects in federal custody -- at least not if you make the request in the Eleventh Circuit."

" To constitute an invasion of the right of privacy, an intrusion must be one that a reasonable person would perceive might, and probably would, cause mental distress and injury to a person of reasonable sensibility."

"..alleges in the lawsuit that Cuffed is violating Nebraska Statute 20-202, which pertains to invasions of privacy "for advertising or commercial purposes."

"it is also in a grey area of the law. I suggest that you contact both your state Attorney General's Office and your local District Attorney's Office and speak to staff in the consumer protections divisions."

Do not settle by giving in to them out of panic!
Use this information and decide if they deserve your money AT ALL and take action!

Do not be fooled by fake comments, do not be fooled by all the 'remove' sites!

    1. Thanks for posting this. The panic I feel is pretty real. But I'd figured out that if one "company" can do this so can others. I'm not sure of my next move but I hope I can stop the mug shot from my 2003 DUI -- a heinous crime that I'm ashamed of -- from detracting from my future goals.

      1. Thanks for your comment. I'd strongly suggest you contact a local lawyer (not one of the youtube 'lawyers' that come up for mugshot removal) in addition to the ACLU.

In the mean time, brush up on your SEO abilities. Register accounts at high ranking sites such as G+, Facebook, Flickr, Wordpress, Tumblr, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc. You will need to use your real name to be able to consistently bump the mugshots down from your google results.

For your mugshot pictures you will need to post many photos. Tag them all with your real name along with what you are doing (ie: john smith at the beach, john-smith-at-the-beach.jpg) and get google to crawl the site.

Your mughshot links and photos will still be on google, just further back (push them back to page 4 and further) until your lawyer gets them to remove it.

    2. "..the Freedom of Information Act does not apply to booking photos of suspects in federal custody -- at least not if you make the request in the Eleventh Circuit."

That case only worked when the mugshot initially wasn't released vy the U.S marshals (federal agency), so it never became public record in the first place. It won't apply to any of these sites which reproduce actual public records.

      1. Thank you for your comment, the more information the better. However I will be leaving the original post unedited.. It is still worth a read and your lawyer may find pieces of it useful.

      1. What are you linking to? It just goes to the homepage of Fort Worth Weekly. Why don't you post the article name; otherwise we don't know what you want readers to see.

ripoffreport.com doesn't "do" anything. It's simply a way to air your grievance publicly. HOW exactly did it get your mugshot removed?
Most of what's on there is unreadable and difficult to understand.

    4. This is horrible for me. I was at a hotel with about 10 people. The police charged everyone with poss of weed. i never smoked in my life. Now my shot is all over the place.

I am a government employee in the executive branch and I am looking at every possibility to sue, i paid a 100 dollars and my pic is still out there. Sounds like they are extorting money which will result in jail time for the lovely owners of the site.

    5. I just put up two Youtube video's on this problem. The videos feature me and are under my name. I would like to suggest that you view these videos. One is nine minutes and the second is 12 minutes.
      the video's are at:
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V47u1JU-Aik
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bj-TYYq5ytY

In general, the advise given above is correct. Create your own positive information with sites like Tumblr, Quora, Wordpress, and Blogger/Blogspot. Create accounts at gmail and use G+

In my case some of the methods given above do not work because I am active in the movement to shut down mugshot types of websites.

My website is at http://normanhaga.nl/ There is a forum to discuss these issues and a blog that gives much information.

      2. There's no "service" that can remove material from someone else's website and domain. If this were true, we could all do it for ourselves.

    7. Do not pay the "removal" websites because it's no use. First of all they pay the mugshot websites a part of your fee, and anyone with a laptop can/will do this again. If you pay once, they'll know that you'll pay again! It will never stop unless the profit is taken out.

    9. So whats the final concensus, how do we PERMANENTLY remove this website or any others to follow. What makes matters worse is that my case has been expunged for over a year, how is the site still bringing it up???

      1. Once they have your mugshot there is nothing you can do. Expunging your record does not erase it off the mugshot websites database, that is why I did not have my record expunged, that way I have a credible source, a public record, saying that the charges against me were dismissed. You can look at normanhaga.nl/ for info on how to bury the search results, it really does work. You can also visit classactionagainstmugshotwebsites.com to join a collective effort against this form of extortion.

      2. Many times even when expunged, your mugshot is still easy to find via google because they cache and index those websites. So even if you pay to get it removed, or expunge your record and they remove it, the historical screen cap of it will be there with your pictrue, charges, and other info. Not everytime, but most times it will be cached regargless of removal. Click my name to sign the petition aginst them

    13. There is a lot of discussion relating to the mugshot industry. Many people go to mugshot removal companies that promise to remove a mugshot from a site like arrests.org. The better bet is to use an online reputation management firm that specializes in mugshot removal and is accredited by the Better Business Bureau like http://webreppros.com. For a few hundred dollars you can have an accredited business work with you as you also work to build your own online reputation utilizing the social networks, but just doing so will not guarantee this to happen.

    14. I worked for www.removeslander.com - we worked as a team control the sites where the mugshots were hosted. We then setup other sites we "claimed" could take them down in 24 hours. We then emailed google, bing, yahoo ect and told them to remove the link. In 24 hours your photo is gone and we have $500 in our pocket!
